Getting started (compiled newsletters)
An illustrated guide to getting started with compiled newsletters.
When you have followed the first "Getting started"-guide and made sure that you can actually send the newsletters it is time to continue with creating a compiled newsletter.
- Select a compilation time
Now it is wednesday 9:45 so I set the compilation time to Wednesdays at 10:00. For Joomla 1.0.x the time is server time, so if your server is placed in another country you should take the time difference into account. I also enter a title and an introtext for my compiled newsletters.

- Make sure that "scheduled news scans" are still off
I want to be able to preview my compiled newsletter so I keep this setting.
- Enter some more news articles
I have a few minutes left until 10:00 so I create another news item just like I did in the "Getting started"-guide.
- Preview
The time is not yet 10:00 and the preview at the frontend will show that I have created a news item but the compiled newsletter is still not ready.
- Preview
Now I had a cup of coffee and the time is 10:01. The preview at the frontend shows the compiled newsletter. Since I didn't turn on "scheduled news scans" i can still edit the articles and the newsletter settings until I am satisfied with the result.
As you have seen, newsletters will be compiled when the "Compilation time" is between "Previous news scan"
and now.
For a weekly newsletter it can be illustrated this way:

If you "forget" to send the previous newsletter (Previous news scan not updated) it will be included in the next compilation:

Yes, Vemod News Mailer is alive, kicking, and coding! We invite you to participate in the development and discussion for future improvements to Vemod News Mailer for Joomla 1.5!
As of July 22nd, The Joomla Project declared Joomla 1.0 as End of Life and ceased support for the old version. Following suit, Vemod News Mailer no longer supports Joomla 1.0 either. If you really need a copy of the 1.0 installer, you may contact us and plead your case--but you should really upgrade to Joomla 1.5 instead!
