An illustrated guide to getting started with the Vemod News Mailer

Install and create a frontend menu for the component.

Check a category and make sure news compilation is off.

Turn off News compilation

Add yourself as custom recipient (This must be a valid and existing address !)

Turn off scheduled news scans and save config.

Turn off scheduled mailings

Login to frontend as Administrator.

Login as administrator

Select Submit News. (If you don't have this menu, you can add a content item from the backend instead)

Select Submit News

Select title, a category with subscribers and enter some text.

Select category (with subscribers), title and enter text

Select Published and save.

Select Published and save

Select menu to the newsmailer component. (This is the menu you created after install)

Select the Preview button. (You must be logged in to the frontend as administrator to see this button)

Select the Preview Button

You shold now see the actual mail which is ready. Click Send...

Joomla 1.0

As of July 22nd, The Joomla Project declared Joomla 1.0 as End of Life and ceased support for the old version. Following suit, Vemod News Mailer no longer supports Joomla 1.0 either. If you really need a copy of the 1.0 installer, you may contact us and plead your case--but you should really upgrade to Joomla 1.5 instead!
